Snow Much FUN!!!

What a great field trip yesterday!   We had so much fun all day long!! We started with snowshoeing first, then we explored the Hartje building and made snow soup, and we finished with sledding! 

Measuring Penguins

Today we checked out how tall 3 kinds of penguins are! We were amazed to find that we are all TALLER than the tallest penguin!  We were also amazed to see how small the little blue penguin is!  

In math we have been working on sorting.  But we are still working on reviewing more and less.   The Monster Squeeze app has been a fun way to practice that!  As we are playing we are using math talk by saying  "The number is less than ...."  or "The number is more than..."  If you are looking for a fun math app for your child at home, you might want to check this out!

Penguins and Sorting

This week we are learning about penguins during our theme study!  We are creating an information book about penguins!  Here is our front cover that we created!

Today we learned about the Rockhopper penguin!  Below is our thinking bubble on what we learned about them from a website.  Ask your child to share with you!

One thing that we learned is that Rockhoppers hop instead of waddling!  They can hop up to 6 feet in a single bound!  We had to try and see if we could do it too!  Below is a picture of how we did!  Needless to say we could not jump six feet!

In math we are taking a break from numbers and doing a few lessons on sorting!  The kids have lots of good information already about sorting so this will be a fun and easy unit for everyone!  Below are a few pictures of the sorting we did today!
