Bank and Dollar Tree Field Trip

We were off on our field trip today! The kids learned a lot from our friends at the Baraboo Bank. 

We even met the bank president!

We saw how the machine works that counts the coins.

We saw a machine that counts and sort paper money.

We even got to see the vault and go inside!

The best part was going to the Dollar Tree and spending our hard earned dollar!

We have another shopper for our trip on Thursday! Way to go!!

Earth Week Science Project

We have been working on being engineers this week!  The kiddos were given the problem this week to help Farmer Lee deliver his veggies to four locations on a map using less gas and causing less pollution.  Yesterday we created the route for his truck to take.  Today we planned out how he should pack his delivery truck in the most efficient way.  Below are a few photos of us working....

Another Shopper!

We have another shopper!  Yeah!

WE HAVE CHICKS!

We have baby chicks in our classroom!  We came in morning and found 2 chicks hatched already and a the third one hatched at lunch time!  We loved watching them today and petting them and by the end of the day we got to hold them too!

Hatching Eggs!

 We have our first hatching egg!   We even heard it peeping!  The kids were so excited.  Hopefully in the morning we will have our first baby chick.

We have three more shoppers for our field trip next week!  Way to Go!

Rain Experiments and More Shoppers!

Today our theme study was all about RAIN!!  We learned about the water cycle and created our own water cycle!  We also talked about what happens to water puddles and why they disappear.  We used a skillet to heat water and see it disappear.  For the water cycle I held a pan with ice cubes above the boiling water and slowly it condensed on the bottom of the pan and made water drops!  Below are pictures of our water cycle experiment. 

Then we completed another science experiment where we made it rain!  The kiddos got a jar full of shaving cream clouds, then they dropped water on the "clouds."  When the clouds were heavy with water, it started to RAIN!!  It was super cool!

We had two more friends get their dollars today!  So we are up to 3 dollar store shoppers!

Our First Shopper!

The kiddos have been working hard on earning their dollar for our upcoming shopping trip to the Dollar Tree!  Today we had our first student earn his dollar!   We all cheered and applauded for him!  Ask your kiddo how much money they have saved so far!          

What Makes 10?

We played a fun game today in math to practice counting on and counting back!  The kiddos had to pick a card, choose a counting strategy to find out how many more to make 10.  They did a great job and had a fun time playing the game!
