COMING SOON.......BABY CHICKS!

We have started a fun new project! We are going to try to hatch chickens in our classroom!  Our custodian, Ms. Jodi, brought in an incubator and eggs yesterday for us to use!  We got the eggs put into the incubator today and we will start to rotate them every day for the next 3 weeks! We hope to start seeing baby chicks around April 21!  Pictures to come soon!

Digging out Fossils!

On Tuesday we tried out being a paleontologist!  The kiddos were given a chisel (toothpick) and a piece of rock with fossils (chocolate chip cookie).  They had to see how many chocolate chips they could dig out of the cookie!  They worked very hard and enjoyed eating their fossils when we were done!

Walking Trip to Popple Nature Center

 We had a beautiful day on Monday to walk to Popple Nature center and look for signs of spring with Mr. Williams!  We smelled fresh new dirt!  We climbed in trees! We saw two cranes and heard them too!  We also tried to sound like the frogs that will be venturing out soon!  It was a great day.

Visitor From the Bank

Today we had a special visitor from the Baraboo Bank come into the class and talk to us about money!  She went over the different types of coins and how much they are worth.  She also talked to us about how important it is to save our money in our piggy banks!  We also did rubbings of the different coins!  The kiddos loved this part!  We will be going to visit the Baraboo Bank in April along with a trip to the dollar tree!  More details on that adventure in April!

What are we doing in math?

Math started out with a partner activity today! Kiddos used an i-pad app to spin for a number, they built a tower, and then did math talk with their partner on who had more and who had less.  This is the focus of our current math unit.

At centers, kiddos were excited to try out a new math app called: Addimal Adventure!  It is a great app to work on developing strategies to solve addition problems.

 Kiddos worked on addition by walking around the room and counting on with the shamrocks they found.

Kiddos put cards in order by 10's to 110.  They then completed a math sheet using their created number line.

Kiddos played on ABCya math trying out five different games that worked on reading a hundreds chart, place value, more and less, and number order.
