First Day of Kindergarten

What a great first day of kindergarten!  We were busy all day, took a ton of water breaks, and had tons of fun!  Here are just a few moments of our day...

In the morning we took some time to talk about 3 star coloring in kindergarten.  We created a chart to help us remember to do a good job.  Afterwards we did a little practice coloring and created some fun hats to celebrate our first day in kindergarten!

In the afternoon we read Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom and Palm Trees.  We also looked at a real coconut and felt it, smelled it, and listened to it.  We wrote down the words we came up with to describe the coconut.  We also completed one rotation of chicka centers!

At this center we worked with numbers and created a chicka number counting book.

At this center the kids completed their chicka book page and also played a fun monkey number maze game.

At this center the kids created a fun chicka art project with their name.  These will be hanging up in our room!

At the last center the children had two alphabet activities to choose from.  One was writing letters with magnadoodles and the other was using race cars to trace letters.

We had a little brain break after centers and watched a fun chicka chicka boom boom video.

Next, we had to go hunting down the missing numbers from Mrs. Lancaster's book! They were all over the school!

When we got back to class we had a cooking project ready for us to complete!  We made chicka trees!!   What a fun way to end a great first day!
